Experienced administrator, Jen McGuigan, has been appointed as KartSport New Zealand’s new Operations Coordinator, starting September 30th.
KartSport New Zealand is the national sporting organization responsible for the management of karting nationwide, under the sanctioning of global body FIA Karting. The organization represents around 5,000 stakeholders including 1500 Licence holders from age five to 80 plus, participating across more than 200 events annually.
Based in Wellington, Jen will bring a core set of skills to the role, while also bringing with her an intimate history within the sport. The daughter of KartSport Wellington Life Members Vicki Park and the late Stu Park, she has grown up around the sport. Furthering her own history in the sport, Jen also recently joined the KartSport Wellington committee in the volunteer Secretary position.
As part of the ongoing work to the modernise the organization in recent years, the Operations Coordinator will act in a key supporting role for both the Chief Operating Officer and Competition Manager. As described to club delegates at the recent National Conference, it is expected that this role will help further propel the sport into a thriving growth environment, as well as building greater depth of shared knowledge for long term sustainability.
The Operations Coordinator will play an important part in multiple areas of the organisation including operations, administration, marketing, stakeholder relations, judicial matters, event support and managing the nationwide tyre distribution.
“I'm so excited and thankful for this opportunity to work with a great bunch of people in a sport that I love and have a deep history in,” commented Jen.
Speaking about the appointment, KartSport New Zealand’s COO James Hadley had this to say.
“We’re extremely pleased to have Jen joining our team in this new key position. Throughout the process, she showed a positive and enthusiastic attitude towards the role and the sport alike. That coupled with her existing knowledge of karting, should see her become a great fit with our small, focused team.
“As our competitors will be aware, the sport has seen significant change with projects such as the officiating restructure and this has been achieved to date with stretched resources. This new role will allow us to not only complete further aspects of these projects, but kickstart a range of other key initiatives.”
Speaking from the KartSport New Zealand Board’s perspective, current National President Brent Melhop is optimistic about the future.
“It’s an important time for the organization as we start to put further resource in place to tackle some of the key areas of development put forward at the recent conference and previously. We look forward to working alongside Jen.”
Jen was hired following a professional recruitment process and KartSport New Zealand wishes to thank all those who showed interest in the position.
